Services
Life can feel overwhelming at times. Our mission is to empower you with the tools to overcome the situations that are leaving you confused, discouraged, drained, and often depleted.

Life transitions such as moving from childhood into adolescence, becoming a parent, or aging together with the trauma of loss, work-related stressors, societal issues, or even our internal thoughts can create anxiety, grief, and depression that are extremely difficult to manage alone.

Establishing a trusting and transparent relationship with a qualified therapist means you have someone in your corner assisting you in navigating through what seems unbearable.

Mood Disorders

Mood disorders encompass a group of mental health conditions characterised by significant and persistent disturbances in a person's emotional state and include depression, bipolar disorder, and cyclothymic disorder.

Anxiety Disorders

Anxiety disorder is a common mental health condition characterised by excessive and persistent worry, fear, or apprehension that can significantly interfere with a person's daily life.  There are several types of anxiety disorders, including generalised anxiety disorder, OCD, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and specific phobias.

Trauma

Trauma refers to the emotional and psychological response that occurs when an individual experiences a distressing or life-threatening event or series of events.  Trauma can have profound and lasting effects on a person's mental and emotional well-being, leading to symptoms such as flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, and a heightened state of alertness. One of the condition linked with these symptoms is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Adjustment Disorder

Adjustment disorder is a short-term mental health condition that occurs when an individual struggles to cope with a significant life stressor or change, such as a divorce, job loss, relocation, or a major illness. People with adjustment disorder typically experience emotional and behavioural symptoms like sadness, anxiety, irritability, and difficulty concentrating.

Relationship Issues

Therapy can be immensely beneficial in addressing and resolving relationship issues. Therapy provides a safe and neutral environment where individuals can openly communicate, express their feelings, and work through conflicts constructively. They help identify unhealthy patterns of behaviour, improve communication skills, and foster empathy and understanding between people.

Behavioural Issues & ADHD

Behavioural issues, whether in children or adolescents can be effectively addressed through therapy. Therapists use evidence-based approaches to understand the underlying causes of problematic behaviours.

Individuals with ADHD often experience challenges with focus, impulsivity, and hyperactivity that can impact various aspects of their lives, including work, school, and relationships. Therapy and skills training can help individuals develop strategies to better control their symptoms, improve time management, enhance organisational skills, and cope with the emotional aspects of living with ADHD.

Modalities Used in Therapy

Our psychologist uses evidence-based therapy such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eyes Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

In the heart of every struggle, I see a story waiting to be transformed. With over a two decades of experience as a psychologist, I've journeyed alongside countless individuals – from children grappling with attachment issues to adults wrestling with life's many stressors.

Whether in the quiet corners of private clinics or the bustling halls of public institutions, I've listened, counselled, and intervened, always with a compassionate ear. While I am well-versed in evidence-based therapies, I believe in the power of a personalised touch, ensuring that every patient I encounter finds a path to healing and growth.

Hello, I’m Marina Gaha

I'm Marina, your caring and friendly Practice Manager here to assist with any inquiries. I've called Sydney home for over 25 years and, after the rewarding journey of raising three children, I joined this practice in September 2021.

Armed with a Diploma in Counselling, I've also dedicated over a decade as a telephone crisis supporter for Lifeline and proudly serve as a mentor for the Raise Foundation across various schools. When I'm not lending a helping hand, you might find me embracing nature on a walk, playing tennis, practising yoga, or spending quality time with my beloved dog.

How Does Therapy Help?

Children & Anxiety

One of the most significant benefits of CBT therapy is the emphasis on practical, evidence-based
strategies that a child can apply to manage their emotions and thoughts constructively. The child
learns to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and develop a toolbox of coping skills that help them navigate difficult situations with greater resilience and confidence.
As a parent, it helps gain invaluable insights into a child’s thought processes and emotions through regular updates and discussions with the therapist. Moreover, the therapist provides guidance on how to support the child outside the therapy sessions and how to improve a parent's relationship with their child as well as enhance the overall family dynamic.
